Flexible Work for Employees

How to Get Started

If you are interested in pursuing a flexible work arrangement, follow these steps:

  • Familiarize yourself with the flexible work guidelines. Have a conversation with your manager/supervisor to review the guidelines as well as:
    • which days you would like to work remotely,
    • barriers that may prevent you from performing your duties effectively.
  • Employees considering long-term flexible work arrangements should consider a variety of factors in determining if flexible work is the right choice for their personal circumstances. Please complete the self-assessment and upon completion, reflect on your responses.
  • Your manager/supervisor will decide if a remote work arrangement is suitable. Once you have discussed options with your supervisor and come to an understanding, complete a Flexible Work Arrangement request form and a home inspection checklist. This will ensure the University is meeting all obligations under WorkSafeBC, and that both you and your supervisor are considering all aspects related to a remote work arrangement.
